Hungry in the west end, I was surprised to see a salmon sandwich of apparently excellent quality for 1.59 in a newsagent. Consequently I presumed that the sandwich itself would probably be quite poor (front-loaded, boney salmon, limp cucumber - you know). One bite proved me wrong and transported me back to sunday evenings as a young teenager, watching Bergerac with my family, avoiding working on the homework that needed to be in the next day, and tucking into a refreshing tinned-salmon and cucumber sandwich.
This was as good as it gets. Fresh, tasty, salmon. Crunchy fresh mini-chunks of cucumber to keep the texture interesting, and solid oatmeal bread. A simple classic executed perfectly.
